World Famous Horseshoe Curve

A National Historic Landmark

Train watching at its finest

Located at 2400 Veterans Memorial Highway in Altoona, PA.  It is operated by the Railroaders Memorial Museum.

It is a lot of fun to watch trains go by and listen to them blast the horn on the way through for the visitors.

We have visited the curve a few times and have enjoyed watching freight and passenger trains traveling through.

We had a lot of fun getting photos and video, it seems like most of the engineers really put on a show with the horns on the way through adding to the experience.

When visiting the Horseshoe curve we recommend taking some time to visit the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona.

The museum has quite a few exhibits that reflect the history of railroads in Central Pennsylvania.

Another way to enjoy the trains traveling through the Curve is through Virtual Railfan.

There is a video feed 24/7 and was also being played in the lobby area of the museum when we were entering.
